As of today, Ukraine has 14.6bn cu.m. of gas in its reserves, 98% of which is Ukrainian gas, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said at a government meeting.

According to him, the remaining 2% of gas in storage facilities belong to non-residents.

In particular, the state-owned company Ukrhazvydobuvannya produced almost 10bn cu.m. over nine months of 2022.

"Despite the war and all the challenges, this is only 2% less than was produced during the same period last year," Shmyhal stressed.

He added that the warm autumn and energy saving allow pumping in more gas than is being taken from gas storage facilities. Coal has also been sufficiently accumulated in warehouses.

"We have 1.5 million tonnes of coal in the warehouses of TPPs and CHPPs, which is almost twice as much as the required guaranteed reserves. Therefore, enough resources have been accumulated, and deliberate damage to the energy infrastructure by Russia remains the key challenge," he said.
