Songs praising the "Russian world" were sung in the Church of All Saints of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra (Cave Monaster, which belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).
The video was published by a priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Mykhaylo Omelyan.
"They are praying for Russia on the territory of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra on the 262nd day of Russia's full-scale invasion. What a horror! I am also surprised by people who pass by, hear all this and remain silent. Doesn't your heart ache and doesn't your soul ache from what the Russian occupiers did in Bucha, Borodyanka, Andriyivka, Mariupol, Kharkiv Region and other temporarily occupied territories?" Father Omelyan said in his post.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) responded to the incident.
According to the press service of the SBU, all the details of the case are already being studied and this situation "will not remain without an appropriate response."
The head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, said that "those who, in the context of a full-scale war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, are waiting for the 'awakening of Mother Russia', should understand that this harms the security and interests of Ukraine and our citizens" and that "we will not allow such manifestations".
The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience added that they appealed to the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine.
"In the morning, there were consultations with representatives of law-enforcement agencies and the State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience. It is important to establish the authenticity of the video, in particular to check whether it is an authentic soundtrack. Further conclusions and actions depend on this. Law-enforcement agencies are already working to verify the authenticity of the video in cooperation with representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine," it noted.
Recently, the SBU exposed another priest of the UOC from Kharkiv Region who cooperated with the occupiers. He fled to Russia.
The SBU also notified the head of one of the dioceses of the UOC-MP in Vinnytsya Region of suspicion. According to the special service, the Metropolitan committed deliberate actions aimed at inciting religious hatred and insulting the feelings of citizens in connection with their religious beliefs.
