President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine did not believe Russia's statements about its readiness for peace negotiations.

He made a statement to this effect today in de-occupied Kherson during a meeting with journalists.

"We are ready for peace, but peace for our entire country. This is the territory of our entire state. We respect international law and sovereignty of every state, and now we are talking about the sovereignty of our state. Therefore, we are fighting against Russian aggression," the president said.

He noted that Ukraine did not encroach on the territory of Russia, but would continue to liberate the territories occupied by Russia.

"We are not interested in the territory of other countries. We are only interested in the de-occupation of our country, our territories. Therefore, I do not know what will be next, but it will be," he noted.

The president emphasized that Kherson had been liberated by the Ukrainian army at a "high price" and not due to the withdrawal of Russians.

"Nobody gives anything away so easily. The price of this war is high. People are wounded, many are dead. Therefore, (the Russian military - ed.) withdrew or fled - we believe that they fled, because our army surrounded the enemy, and they were in danger. There were fierce battles, and the result is that we are in Kherson Region today," Zelenskyy said.
