Russians put launch system for two ZNPP units out of service

The Russian occupiers have disabled the infrastructure necessary to launch Zaporizhzhya NPP units 5 and 6 and resume electricity production for the needs of Ukraine, Energoatom has said.

The communication overpasses with special buildings, chemical salt water tanks, steam generator blowdown system, auxiliary systems of one of the two station diesel engines and other equipment of the station infrastructure were damaged.

"The nature and list of the damaged equipment at ZNPP indicates that the ruscists targeted and disabled exactly the infrastructure that was necessary to launch power units 5 and 6 and resume electricity production for the needs of Ukraine," it said.

It is noted that Energoatom recently made a decision, and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine granted permission to bring power units 5 and 6 to the minimum controlled power level.

At the same time, the Russian military tried in every possible way to prevent Ukrainian personnel from launching the power units.

"Rosatom's fake director of the station Romanenko, with the assistance of the Russian military who seized ZNPP and use it as their own military base, blocked the preparation of the power units for bringing them to the minimum power level", Energoatom said.

On the evening of 19 November and on the morning of 20 November, explosions were heard on the territory of Zaporizhzhya NPP after a period of relative calm at the facility.
