Today, on 16 December, Russia launched its ninth terrorist missile attack on Ukraine's energy system. The main targets of the attacks were trunk power grids and generation facilities.
Power engineers keep the situation under control. The emergency mode was introduced only for electricity market participants, it exclusively concerns market operations, Ukrenergo (Ukrenerho) said.
"The northern, southern and central regions suffered the greatest damage," the company said.
Where possible, repair crews are already assessing the extent of damage and starting emergency repairs. Power engineers are controlling the situation. Despite all the damage, and thanks to the professional work of specialists, the power system maintains a stable frequency of 50 Hz, it works synchronously with the European continental grid.
"Currently, emergency power outages are in effect throughout Ukraine. Given that this is the 9th wave of missile strikes on energy facilities, the restoration of the power supply may take longer than before. Electricity will be primarily supplied to critical infrastructure facilities: hospitals, water utilities, heat supply facilities, sewage treatment plants," the company noted.
According to Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, nine power generation facilities were damaged during the current attack, Censor.net reports.
