The occupiers began the forced process of obtaining Russian citizenship for children. In case of refusal, parents may lose their jobs and social benefits, Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported on Telegram.

"The Kremlin is in a hurry to forcibly passport residents of the occupied Luhansk Region. What they did not see as necessary for eight years, they are now trying to do in a few months to instil in people a distrust for Ukraine and, at the same time, to strengthen their own propaganda," the statement reads.

Now the procedure for applying for recognition of a child under the age of 14 living in the occupied territory as a citizen of the Russian Federation has come into force. To do this, one of the parents must have a Russian passport. In case of refusal to obtain it, one may be subject to layoffs at work or lose social benefits.
