Ukraine expects a joint decision from its allies on the transfer of German Leopard tanks, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said at a briefing with his Polish and Lithuanian counterparts.
"One state will not be able to help us. We are fighting against thousands of Russian tanks. It is clear that our people have already shown everything. They are stronger even than Russian tanks. But our partners should feel sorry for our people above all, and not feel sorry for this or that number of tanks," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that now there is already a positive decision from Polish colleagues, while discussions with other states continue. He hinted that another positive decision on the provision of modern tanks to Ukraine is expected today.
Polish President Andrzej Duda added that Poland had decided to transfer German Leopard tanks to Ukraine after the relevant announcement of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki a week ago.
"The company of Leopard tanks will be provided in the framework of the coalition, because you know, we need to have certain official agreements, certain agreements, but first we need to build an international coalition. We have decided to form this coalition. The first company of Leopard tanks, which, I hope, together with other tanks of other types - I hope that they will be provided very soon. And that it will be provided to Ukraine in different ways to strengthen the capabilities of Ukraine," he said.
