At present, power engineers, local authorities and utilities have restored more than 55% of the energy infrastructure destroyed and damaged by Russian shelling, the Head of Naftogaz of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov wrote on Facebook.

"Despite the shelling, local authorities, public utilities and power engineers have already restored more than 55% of the infrastructure destroyed or damaged by the enemy, which allows us to supply Ukrainians with heat," the statement reads.

At the same time, wherever the situation allows, housing, hospitals, schools and kindergartens are fully supplied with heat.

"No matter how much the enemy wants us to freeze, this will not happen. We have already passed the first half of the most difficult heating season in the history of Ukraine. We will definitely pass the second half," he stressed.

According to the latest data, as of 11:00 on 12 January, there is still a significant shortage of electricity capacity, especially in the morning and evening peak hours.
