The only negotiations Ukraine and Russia currently hold concern the release of prisoners, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, has said in an interview with Le Monde.

He added that no international organisation had visited Ukrainian prisoners in the colony in occupied Olenivka, although it is their obligation. Even the International Committee of the Red Cross not visited the Ukrainian prisoners.

"I met with its head here in Kyiv, I explained her the facts, I organised a meeting with relatives and wives of the prisoners. I do not accept it when they tell me that no-one can visit the prison because they do not have permission. Meanwhile, representatives of the ICRC are going to listen to the testimonies of hospitalised Russian soldiers who are returning from the front, where they raped our women, killed our children. As for the Olenivska prison, where Russians killed 50 of our soldiers, our heroes, we cannot wait for months for permission to visit, it is unacceptable. The world needs an organisation that will be at the height of the mission entrusted to it," he said.

In July 2022, Russians committed a terrorist attack in the prison of Olenivka, a temporarily occupied town where prisoners were held. The exact number of dead is still unknown, the examination continues.
