Russian troops are constantly trying to break through the defence of Ukrainian troops in Donetsk Region. The situation at the front is very difficult, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said on Telegram.

"Today I held a regular meeting of the Staff. The main focus, of course, is on the situation at the front. First of all, in Donetsk Region and in the southern direction. The situation is very tough. Bakhmut, Vuhledar and other areas in Donetsk Region are under constant Russian assaults. Constant attempts to break through our defence," he noted.

According to the president, "the enemy does not count people and despite numerous losses, maintains high intensity of attacks".

"This can only be countered by extraordinary resilience and full understanding that by defending Donetsk Region, our soldiers are defending the whole of Ukraine. We are doing everything to ensure that our pressure still outweighs the occupiers' assault capabilities," Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized that it is very important to maintain the dynamics of defence support from our partners. The speed of supply has been and will be one of the key factors in this war.

"Russia hopes to drag out the war, to exhaust our forces. So, we have to make time our weapon. We have to speed up events, accelerate supplies and unlock new necessary weapons options for Ukraine. This week we have significant defence results in our relations with the United States, Germany, Poland, Canada, Belgium, Norway, Italy and other countries. We must make the next week no less strong for our defence," he said.
