The earthquake in Turkey has probably killed two Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko said, citing data from the Turkish side as of 5:30 p.m. on 7 February.

Nikolenko noted that the embassy is currently verifying this information and taking steps to identify the victims.

"We also know about 4 injured Ukrainians. They sustained minor injuries, there are no threats to their lives, and they do not need hospitalization. The victims are provided with temporary housing and food," the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

He noted that diplomats have already tracked down 38 Ukrainians and are working with Turkish rescue services to find the other 19 citizens of our country who are out of contact.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to send Ukrainian consuls to Gaziantep. The embassy's diplomats will be able to arrive in the disaster area as soon as the situation allows amid the declared emergency regime in Turkey. The consuls will coordinate on-site assistance to Ukrainian citizens, delivering warm clothes and necessities," Nikolenko said.

According to him, on the way back, the embassy plans to take out Ukrainians willing to move to other regions of Turkey with its vehicles.

On 6 February, a powerful earthquake hit Turkey and Syria. Less than 12 hours later, another strong earthquake was recorded. On the same day, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported having received 24 appeals regarding lost contact with Ukrainian citizens.
