The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal granted the application of the Ministry of Justice and the Security Service of Ukraine to ban the Party of Regions, the CHESNO Movement has reported.

Since the Party of Regions was not banned earlier as a pro-Russian political force, a number of deputies in the councils of Donetsk, Luhansk regions and Crimea still have mandates, because no elections were held in these territories after the occupation in 2014.

The full text of the court's decision to ban the Party of Regions will be published on the official websites of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and the Ukrainian parliament. The party is obliged to transfer its property, funds and other assets, as well as the assets of regional, city, district organizations, primary cells and other structural units to the state.

This decision can be appealed within 20 days to the Supreme Court. No party has ever managed to do so before. In 2022, at the initiative of the Ministry of Justice, the court banned 16 political parties: Opposition Platform-For Life, Opposition Bloc, Shariy's Party, Nashi, the Communist Party, and others.
