The High Anti-Corruption Court has approved the plea agreement between MP Oleksandr Trukhin and the prosecutor and found him guilty in the case of attempted bribery of police officers, the presiding judge reports.

"The court ruled to approve the plea agreement concluded on 17 February 2023 between the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the accused Trukhin. Trukhin himself is to be found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code," the judge said.

According to the agreement, the court found the MP guilty of attempting to bribe patrol police officers with "150 thousand" without specifying a monetary amount for leaving the accident scene unhindered.

Given that the MP committed a minor crime, did not cause damage to the state, fully admitted his guilt and sincerely repented, the court sentenced him to the maximum fine provided for by the sanction of the article, namely UAH 68 thousand. In addition, under the terms of the agreement, the bail of UAH 49,620 posted by the MP will be transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, within 30 days of the agreement's approval, the MP will transfer UAH 6 million to the United 24 Foundation for the joint project of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Communications Service, and the Ministry of Digital Transformation - the Army of Drones.

Pursuant to Article 81 of the Constitution, Members of the Ukrainian Parliament terminate their powers early if a guilty verdict against them enters into force.

Oleksandr Trukhin, a member of the Servant of the People party, admitted that he had offered a bribe to a police officer. He made a deal with the investigation.

The accident involving the Servant of the People deputy occurred on the Boryspil highway on 23 August 2021. Six people were injured, including two children and the chairman of the Referees Committee of the Football Federation of Ukraine. Several media outlets published information that Trukhin was driving the Audi that crashed into the Ford (which, in turn, crashed into the Daewoo), but this information was later removed.

On 2 October, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova said that nothing was being concealed in the Trukhin accident case. On 1 February, the media published a video of the accident involving Trukhin. In the video, Trukhin addresses the policeman with the words "let me go quietly to the forest", and then promises to "talk" with Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyy.

On 7 September 2022, Trukhin asked to terminate his powers as a faction member. After being served with a notice of suspicion in September, Trukhin was granted bail of UAH 49.6 thousand.
