The Russian military is trying to surround Avdiyivka in Donetsk Region. Therefore, it is likely that soon, the situation may become similar to that in Bakhmut, where fierce fighting continues, said Colonel Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskiy, head of the joint press centre of the Tavriya defence forces, during a national telethon.

"The enemy is constantly trying to surround Avdiyivka. I agree with my colleagues from the UK that Avdiyivka may soon become the second Bakhmut - it is true. However, I would like to say that not everything is going so well within the Russian units attacking in this area," he said.

Dmytrashkivskiy also said that over the past day, the enemy lost about three companies of personnel in this area.

He noted that the attempts to storm Avdiyivka are similar and predictable. The enemy attacks from the same "landing zone", and, in the past three days, the invaders have been using "the last reserves they have".

UK intelligence today reported that the tactical situation in Avdiyivka is similar to that in Bakhmut. The spread-out complex of the Avdiivka Coke Plant is likely to become a key area that will be particularly advantageous to defend as events unfold.
