If there are no delays in cooperation between Ukraine and its partners, and all efforts are directed towards the Ukrainian victory, the victory will be achieved this year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his address to the European Council meeting.
"No one knows for sure how long the war will last and which battles will bring us success faster and which will require more effort. But it is clear that if there are no delays or stagnation in our cooperation, if our forces are resolutely aimed at the Ukrainian victory, the victory will happen this year," the president said in a statement.
Zelenskyy noted that "we have fewer new successes than new delays in joint actions" and added that "the Kremlin sees this" and that it "moves us away from achieving peace".
The president named five examples of delayed assistance, including delays in the delivery of long-range missiles to Ukraine, modern aircraft, new sanctions packages, as well as in bringing Ukraine and the EU closer together and organizing a peace formula summit.
"We have been talking to you for a long time about organizing a peace formula summit. I am ready to schedule the summit in Kyiv in the near future. But we are all well aware that under the current circumstances, many leaders, unfortunately, will not be able to come to Ukraine. So I urge you to help us with this. We can organize a summit in one of the world's capitals – in one of the European capitals," Zelenskyy suggested.
