The Shevchenkivskyy district court of Kyiv has placed Metropolitan Pavlo of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) under round-the-clock house arrest for two months.
He is prohibited from communicating with believers.
On the afternoon of 1 April, it became known that the trial in the case of Metropolitan Pavlo was postponed to 3 April. The trial was postponed because of the defendant's health. But then the court authorized a forced delivery of Metropolitan Pavlo to the court's evening session on 1 April.
This morning, the SBU notified Metropolitan Pavlo of suspicions under Part 1 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code (violation of the equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, region, religious beliefs) and Part 1 of Article 436-2 (justification, denial of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The special service also published relevant photos and intercepted telephone conversations of the metropolitan. In them, Pavlo can be heard rejoicing at the capture of Kherson by Russians. He also talks about "American biolabs" and calls the defenders of Ukraine "bastards". The metropolitan says that he keeps in touch with Moscow and calls for prayers for Russian Patriarch Kirill.
