President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has commented on Russia's presidency of the UN Security Council from 1 April. He said that terrorists should be held accountable for terror, not preside anywhere.
"Today, a terrorist state began to preside over the UN Security Council. Yesterday, the Russian army killed another Ukrainian child - a 5-month-old boy, his name was Daniel, from Avdiyivka in Donetsk Region, his parents were wounded. This is one of hundreds of shelling attacks carried out by the terrorist state every day. At the same time, Russia presides over the UN Security Council," the president said in his evening address to the nation.
He noted that it was difficult to imagine something that proved the complete bankruptcy of such institutions.
"There is no form of terror that has not yet been committed by Russia. And there will be no reason that will stop the reform of global institutions, in particular the UN Security Council. The reform is obviously overdue so that a terrorist state and any other state that wants to be a terrorist cannot destroy peace," Zelenskyy said.
He emphasised that terrorists must lose, must be held accountable for terror, and not preside anywhere.
