Ukraine's Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said that building a multi-level air defence and missile defence system as soon as possible is a priority.

"Patriot systems create a capability that did not exist before - to hit ballistic targets. The next IRIS-T installation, for which we are grateful to our German partners, increases our ability to combat cruise missiles. IRIS, like NASAMS, has proved to be a great asset. MiGs from our Polish and Slovak friends will enhance our defence against both Russian missiles and Iranian drones," Reznikov said on Facebook.

He added that "all of this is fresh acquisitions that are already in the ranks of the Defence Forces" and that "more will follow."

According to the minister, given the Kremlin's "barbaric tactics," Ukraine needs "more platforms of different levels and ammunition for them".

"We need more man-portable air defence systems. Western-style aircraft are the top of this pyramid," the defence minister said.

Reznikov noted that "the stronger the air defence, the more resources Ukraine will be able to use to win, the sooner our people will return home".
