Ukraine has managed to bring home 45 soldiers who defended Mariupol from Russian captivity, presidential office head Andriy Yermak has said on Telegram.
"These are 42 defenders and three defenders of Azovstal. All of them are National Guard members from a unit created on the Azov coast nine years ago. Thirty-five privates and sergeants, 10 officers. Among them are soldiers who got married during the defence of Mariupol, at Azovstal," Yermak noted.
According to him, among the prisoners released from Russian captivity is our soldier, who had been in captivity for 2.5 years before the large-scale invasion, where he was taken during the Shyrokyne operation. He was later released from captivity and immediately returned to his unit. He was captured again at Azovstal and is now returning home.
