On 6 May, pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine came under fire in Kherson Region while performing mine clearance tasks. Six of them were killed, SES head Serhiy Kruk has said.

"The world needs to know about this! Today, the SES lost part of its family. While performing demining tasks in Kherson Region, our pyrotechnics came under fire. Six of our specialists were killed. Two more, including a female paramedic, were injured and are currently hospitalised. The equipment was destroyed. My condolences to the families and friends," said Kruk.

He noted that Russian terrorists continue to violate all norms of international law by shelling the SES specialists, who have been trying to clear the territory densely mined by the occupiers for months.

Under the procedural supervision of the Kherson district prosecutor's office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched in criminal proceedings over violations of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the Office of the Prosecutor-General said.

According to preliminary data, today the Russian military dropped an explosive device from a drone on a pyrotechnic group working near a settlement.
