During such a war, the state must focus its attention, and therefore state resources, on defence, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his video address.
"I offered the prime minister two steps. The first is to find extra-budgetary funds for projects that are really needed now. There are people in the world who can help. And second, I asked the prime minister to consider replacing the minister of culture and information policy of Ukraine [Oleksandr Tkachenko]," the president said.
He emphasised that every project that can be implemented at the expense of extra-budgetary resources should be implemented this way.
"Museums, cultural centres, symbols, TV series - all this is important, but now there are other priorities. Find extra-budgetary funds. Not state funds," Zelenskyy urged.
The state enterprise Multimedia Broadcasting Platform of Ukraine allocates UAH 33 million for the series with the working title Inhulets to the Prototype Production company of Yuriy Horbunov, a host on One Plus One TV, once associated with Oleksandr Tkachenko.
According to Horbunov, the series will have 24 episodes, and this is "very little money".
