As a result of the Russian attack on the port in Chornomorsk, Odesa Region, 60,000 tonnes of grain intended for shipment to China were destroyed, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening video address.
He stressed that last night's attack on Odesa Region was perhaps the largest "Russian attempt to inflict pain on Odesa" during the full-scale war.
He noted that thanks to air defence, the consequences of the attack were milder than they could have been.
According to him, the ports that were attacked today store about a million tonnes of food - the volume of products that should have been delivered to consumer countries in Africa and Asia long ago.
"The port terminal that suffered the most from Russian terror last night had 60,000 tonnes of agricultural products stored in it, which were intended for shipment to China. That is, everyone is affected by Russian terror," Zelenskyy said.
He added that priority repairs have already begun in the communities affected by the strikes last night.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said that Russian terrorists deliberately targeted the infrastructure of the grain deal during the night attack on Odesa.
Ukraine called on African countries to join forces to guarantee further food exports.
