The Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate has said that Russians are planning to carry out another false-flag armed provocation at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
"The occupiers are likely to organise another act of armed provocation on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant in the near future. To this end, the FSB 'military counterintelligence department' is spreading information among the occupying forces about the alleged preparation of an assault at ZNPP by the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces," the MID said.
In order to carry out a provocation at ZNPP, the Russian special services claim that an assault on the nuclear power plant will allegedly be organised at the end of July. According to them, "assault groups" and unnamed "volunteer armed units" of Ukraine are to take part in it.
The MID notes that the dissemination of such information may indicate that the occupiers are preparing a false flag operation that will lead to a large-scale accident at ZNPP. According to intelligence information, the next simulated shelling of the plant is currently being prepared with the aim of further accusing Ukraine of it.
Ukraine's atomic energy operator Energoatom regularly receives information about the mining of ZNPP by the Russian military.
There are currently about 500 Russian military and Rosatom employees at Zaporizhzhya NPP.
