US cluster munitions have arrived in Ukraine and will be ready for use within a few days, Ground Forces Commander Col-Gen Oleksandr Syrskyy has said, the BBC reports.
The media outlet did not specify when exactly it spoke with Syrskyy.
The commander of the 57th Brigade, Col Oleksandr Bakulin, said in a conversation with British journalists that cluster munitions are needed to "inflict maximum damage on enemy infantry".
However, he added: "I cannot say that cluster munitions will solve all our problems on the battlefield."
Cluster munitions. A weapon for the offensive
On 13 July, a US official confirmed that cluster munitions were already in Ukraine.
Earlier, Brig Gen Oleksandr Tarnavskyy, commander of the Tavriya operational and strategic group of troops, said that Ukraine had already received cluster munitions from the United States.
