Ukraine's environment has suffered damage worth more than UAH 305 billion as a result of Russia's strikes on military facilities, the Military Media Centre has reported.

This includes:

- soil contamination by waste from the destruction of infrastructure - over UAH 300 billion;

- soil contamination by oil products and other hazardous chemicals - about UAH 700 million;

- fugitive emissions into the atmosphere - about UAH 4 billion;

- damages to the forest fund - about UAH 7 million.

"The stated figures of environmental damage are not final and will increase if Russia continues its policy of armed terror," said Col Ruslan Berehulya, head of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety.
