Last night, Izmayil district in Odesa Region was being attacked for almost three hours with Russian attack drones. One person was killed - an employee of an agricultural enterprise.

Destruction and fires were recorded in several settlements, according to the head of Odesa RMA Oleh Kiper.

"Port and agricultural infrastructure facilities were damaged: elevators, administrative buildings, agricultural enterprises," he wrote in Telegram.

Russia has been attacking port infrastructure and grain storage facilities in Odesa Region since 18 July, when it unilaterally withdrew from the grain export agreement. Russia has deliberately targeted the infrastructure that enabled exports.

A so-called alternative grain corridor is working, but only four ships have used it. The President said that Ukrainian diplomats continue to cooperate with foreign partners to restore the full operation of the grain corridor, which has ensured and should ensure food security on a global scale.

On 28 July, a spokeswoman for the Southern Defence Forces Natalia Humeniuk said that Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defence, unless it could be left without ports in 2-3 months. In particular, Ukraine needs F-16 fighter jets capable of hitting Russian weapons systems and ships used to shell southern Ukraine.
