President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the creation of a new grain corridor through Moldova and Romania.

He said this at a press conference after talks with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in Bucharest.

"We discussed with the president our possible joint actions to protect not just ports, but the entire region of Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, our people... I would like to highlight one of the strategic areas of our cooperation. Within the triangle of Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova, we are able to create a very powerful basis for the development of not only our countries and peoples, but also the whole of Europe," Zelenskyy said.

"And soon the 'grain corridor' from Ukraine through Moldova and Romania will start working. And this is an example of how much we can do together. This will be of great importance not only for us, but also for Europe and the world as a whole," the president said.

He added that this project will have a positive impact on the economic development of all participating countries.

"It is very important that cooperation between Ukraine, Moldova and Romania provides an incentive for the development of business, infrastructure and jobs for our peoples," Zelenskyy said.

In September, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced his visit to Kyiv with several ministers to conclude negotiations on Ukrainian grain exports to Romania. After 15 September, the date when the EU embargo on Ukrainian grain imports expired, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary said the ban would be extended, while Romania called for an increase in transit volumes.
