This morning, searches are being conducted at the offices of Mukachevo Mayor Andriy Baloha, Mukachevo District Council Chairman Mykhaylo Lanyo, and a number of companies in connection with a corrupt scheme to sell municipal land around the Avangard stadium. This was reported by the SBU sources.
The question is about the land in the center of Mukachevo on the banks of the Latorytsya River.
Law enforcement officials said that in the summer, the Mukachevo City Council put up for auction 3 hectares of municipal land. According to a classic corruption scheme, the cost of the land was understated several times and the company that actually belongs to the head of the Mukachevo District Council, Mykhaylo Lanyo, better known as the criminal authority Blyuk, "won".
The price of the land was underestimated by 10 times. The Mukachevo city budget lost 100mn hryvnas from the sale.
Later, the NABU press service reported that detectives of the Bureau, together with the SBU, under the procedural guidance of the SAPO, were conducting searches in Mukachevo as part of criminal proceedings regarding the sale of a land plot by local officials at a reduced price.
"Investigative actions are authorised and carried out in accordance with the current legislation," the statement said.
Other details were not disclosed to preserve the secrecy of the pre-trial investigation.
SBU said that law enforcement officers are investigating all the circumstances of the transfer of a part of the city's central sports complex to private ownership.
Investigative actions are currently underway within the framework of the previously opened criminal proceedings, including in the administrative buildings of the Mukachevo City Council.
The operation is conducted under the supervision of the SAPO.
