In 2 years, the number of women in the army has increased by 12,000 (40%). Almost 43,000 servicewomen are currently serving, defence ministry writes via Telegram

According to the report, previously women could serve in positions mainly in medical specialties, communications, accountants, clerks, and cooks. Now, women in the army can be a driver, grenade launcher, deputy commander of a reconnaissance group, commander of an infantry fighting vehicle, repairman, machine gunner, sniper, etc.

Previously, women between the ages of 18 and 40 could sign a contract for military service, while men had no such restriction. Now, the age from 18 to 60 is implied to both sexes.

Now, the duration of maternity leave is specified in a medical report and is included in the length of service in the military rank.

Since 2019, the government has allowed girls to enter military lyceums. Women who see themselves as officers of the Armed Forces in the future have access to all levels of military education. They are allowed to master the same specialties as men and, subsequently, serve in a wide range of positions.
