German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has promised Ukraine further arms supplies and financial support, DW has reported.
In addition, Berlin will provide Ukraine, which is defending itself against Russian invasion, with an aid package for the upcoming winter season, Scholz said in a government statement in the Bundestag on 19 October, ahead of the EU summit.
The centrepiece of the new aid package will be "everything that is necessary for air defence", the German chancellor said.
According to him, Germany will provide Kyiv with an additional Patriot air defence missile system, new Iris-T systems, Gepard anti-aircraft tanks, and the necessary ammunition.
He noted that the financing of new aid to Ukraine needs to be discussed at the European level. It concerns the EU's medium-term financial planning, he explained.
