Hungary's public statements regarding Ukraine's membership in the European Union can be classified as "artificially created nervousness", according to Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
"Hungary pursues a very specific goal of its own in this matter. It is related to the well-known demands of the Hungarian side regarding the Hungarian minority - persons belonging to the Hungarian minority in Ukraine," Kuleba said.
He pointed out that Ukraine's membership in the EU is strategically in Hungary's interest. However, Budapest is trying to squeeze the most out of the current state of the negotiations.
"As one of President Zelenskyy's interlocutors said, the European Union has enough power to be unaffected by Orban's handshake with Putin," Kuleba concluded.
As reported earlier, Hungary has again blocked the next tranche of 500m euros in EU military aid for Ukraine.
