The forced evacuation of children has been announced in eight settlements of Bakhmut and Pokrovsk districts in Donetsk Region, according to the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
The decision was made today at a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Compulsory Evacuation. About 250 children are to be evacuated. They will be taken out accompanied by one of their parents or a legal guardian before the cold weather kicks in.
"First, the evacuees are sent to a humanitarian hub. There they can rest, eat and receive comprehensive support and assistance. Then they will be taken to Zhytomyr Region. There, they will be provided with shelter, social benefits, humanitarian aid and psychological support free of charge," the ministry said.
So far, 41 children have been taken to safety.
