Russian troops continue to shell Avdiyivka daily, raising concerns that the city may suffer the same fate as the completely destroyed town of Maryinka in two to three weeks, according to Vitaliy Barabash, the head of the city military administration, as reported by Ukrainian Radio.
He noted that the delivery of humanitarian aid to Avdiyivka has been halted due to the heightened hostilities, the aid is expected to last for two to three months. Currently, the city is home to 1,599 residents.
"In the past two weeks of increased Russian shelling, we were able to bring in a supply of bread for the first time. Simultaneously, evacuation efforts continue, as the enemy is rapidly reducing Avdiyivka to ruins. At the current rate of shelling, Avdiyivka will resemble Maryinka, another town destroyed by the occupiers in Donetsk Region, in two to three weeks," Barabash warned.
