On 26 October, members of the Ternopil regional council voted to dismiss the head of the council, Mykhaylo Holovko, 20 Khvylyn reported.
First, the councillors supported the opening of the sixth session of the regional council. During registration, they began to complain that the system was not accepting their cards.
Afterwards, a secret ballot was held. As a result, 51 deputies voted to dismiss the head of the regional council. The council has 64 members following the 2020 local elections.
First deputy chairman Volodymyr Boleshchuk will temporarily act as head of the regional council.
Holovko told reporters that, according to the law, it is the regional council chairman convenes the session, so he ordered it to be convened in two weeks. "So on what basis did they gather today? What was it about? A deputy assembly - I understand that, they have every right...", Holovko said and added that he was "ready to leave", but to do so "in a civilised, legal way".
