Today, on 22 November, the Verkhovna Rada supported draft law 9432, which grants English the status of one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine, MPs reported to LB.ua.
278 MPs voted in favour. The draft law defines public positions for which candidates are required to speak English and regulates the specifics of its use.
The relevant committee removed from the draft law the provision on screening English-language films in the original language in cinemas.
Now MPs are to vote for the bill in the second reading.
