EU countries have agreed on a €50 billion financial assistance package in the form of loans and grants to be provided to Ukraine over the next four years. This was announced by European Commissioner for Budget Johannes Hahn on Thursday during a press conference, SkyNews reports.
"The proposal of the European Commission to support Ukraine with loans and grants worth 50 billion euros over the next four years was supported by all countries," the official said.
EU governments are also planning to review the bloc's long-term budget after the European Commission proposed to allocate additional funds from the common budget for Ukraine.
"The central piece is the support for Ukraine. This is not contested by anybody, even in magnitude," Johannes Hahn stressed during the briefing.
