The United Kingdom and Norway have led a new Maritime Capabilities Coalition that will supply ships and vehicles to strengthen Ukraine's ability to operate at sea.

This is stated on the websites of the ministries of defence of both countries.

The UK, Norway and other countries will help Ukraine strengthen security on its coasts and at sea, as Ukraine's defence is important for Euro-Atlantic security.

Norwegian Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram noted that this is a long-term project, and his country can contribute with its experience, new technological solutions and innovative thinking.

UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has now confirmed that Ukraine is buying two Royal Navy ships for its navy. The UK is also providing Viking armoured amphibious vehicles.

The new coalition will provide support to Ukraine, including training, equipment and infrastructure to strengthen security in the Black Sea.
