One of the deputies detonated grenades during a village council session in Transcarpathian Region.
"Today, at 11:37 a.m., the police received a report that one of the deputies had detonated grenades in the building of the Keretsky village council of Mukachevo District when its session was in progress," the National Police reported.
According to the video posted online, there were three grenades.
According to the updated information, as of 12.35 a.m., one person was killed in the explosion, 26 people were injured, six of them are in grave condition. Doctors are trying to resuscitate the perpetrator.
The incident is being investigated under Part 1 of Art. 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code.
In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine is investigating the incident under Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code (Terrorist Act), which is under the jurisdiction of the SBU.
The media reported that the grenade was blown up by a member of the Servant of the People party. LB.ua reached the reception of the Transcarpathian regional office of the Servant of the People by its official telephone number and was told that they were not commenting on this information at the moment.
"At the moment, we have no information, so we can neither confirm nor deny this," the office said.
They suggested that law enforcement would be able to provide official information in due time.
