President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk met Ukrainian diplomats on the occasion of their professional holiday.
According to the president's website, Zelenskyy submitted to parliament a bill to amend the law "On diplomatic service" to make Ukrainian diplomacy "more modern and effective".
The document, in particular, strengthens the role of the Foreign Ministry, establishes the institution of the Special Representative of Ukraine, and introduces cyber diplomacy and related relations with partners. The institution of horizontal rotation is also becoming fully operational.
"Thanks to this law, in particular, you will all have more tools to implement our foreign policy goals next year," the president added.
Shmyhal outlined the main areas of economic diplomacy on his Telegram channel. The tasks include accumulating macro-financial assistance from partners, obtaining reconstruction aid, stimulating foreign investment and creating mechanisms for insuring investment risks, as well as promoting Ukrainian goods on world markets and sanctions policy.
"At the same time, the war has also set new tasks, including humanitarian demining, attracting assistance for the needs of protection through fortification, and confiscation of Russian assets," Shmyhal added.
