NATO has supported Ukraine's request for an extraordinary NATO-Ukraine Council meeting in response to Russia's mass air strikes, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

"One of the key topics will be strengthening Ukraine's air defense. An important sign of Euro-Atlantic unity in the face of Russian terror escalation," he said on X.

The scheduled meeting in the format of the NATO-Ukraine Council is to take place on the first day of the meeting of NATO's highest military body, the Military Committee. The Military Committee will meet in person on 17 and 18 January 2024 in Brussels. The meeting will be chaired by Admiral Rob Bauer, Chairman of the Military Committee.
