Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, together with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valeriy Zaluzhnyy and Chief of the General Staff Serhiy Shaptala, visited the positions of the Defence Forces near Kupyansk, the press service of the Ministry of Defence has reported.
The commander of the Khortytsya Operational Strategic Group, Col-Gen Oleksandr Syrskyy, briefed the audience on the situation around Kupyansk, where Ukrainian soldiers are repelling Russia's constant attempts to attack.
Russian troops have no success in this area.
"I had the honour to meet the commanders of the units fighting in this area. They reported on the situation and current challenges. Decisions will be made in the near future - the enemy will not like it," Umerov said.
Earlier, Syrskyy said that the Russians were trying to advance towards Kupyansk every day.
