Ukrgasvydobuvannya produced more than 1bn cu.m. of gas from new wells commissioned in 2023, Naftogaz Group has said in a press release.

This is the best result of annual production from new wells since 2002.

In total, 86 new wells were put into operation in 2023. Of these, 24 have an initial flow rate of more than 100,000 cu.m. per day.

The most powerful well was launched in April 2023, with a flow rate of 580,000 cu.m. per day.

The increase in production from new wells was made possible by applying new technical capabilities to old depleted fields, whose formations were previously inaccessible, and by modernising the infrastructure.

- In November, Naftogaz Group companies commissioned three high-yield gas wells. Two of them are new, and the third one is a rehabilitated well which had been in the liquidation fund for 35 years. The company's specialists carried out a major overhaul and put it back into operation.

- In 2022, Ukrgasvydobuvannya drilled 47 new wells.
