The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has carried out large-scale counter-sabotage measures in one of the border districts of Rivne Region and, together with other defence forces, practised coordination in the event of a breakthrough by enemy saboteurs into the region.
According to the training plan, one of the "sabotage and reconnaissance groups" secretly entered the town where a nuclear power plant is located, while another took the son of the head of the power facility hostage and demanded that the enterprise be shut down completely.
Law enforcers with the involvement of the SBU Special Operations Centre "A" neutralised the notional hostile groups, released the "victims" and thus prevented a possible man-made disaster.
The coordination exercises were conducted in conditions as close to real life as possible. Units of the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the State Emergency Service and the National Guard took part in the exercises.
