Arsen Abkhayirov, convicted in the case of the so-calle Red Guard Group of Hizb ut-Tahrir, was transferred from the Yeniseysk prison in Krasnoyarsk Territory to a high-security colony in Buryatia, according to his wife, Azize Abkhayirova, Crimean Solidarity reports.
Arsen Abkhayirov, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison, has spent two years in a Krasnoyarsk prison. At the same time, he was supposed to spend the first two years in prison, taking into account the period of detention in the pre-trial detention centre. However, his time in the pre-trial detention centre was not included in his prison sentence.
Abkhayirov's defence tried to appeal against the court's decision, but failed.
Abkhayirov, along with other members of the Red Guard Group, was detained on 14 February 2019. All of them were accused of belonging to the political Islamic organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in Russia, but not in Ukraine.
