The Ukrainian government is working to extend economic and transport duty-free arrangements with the European Union, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced at a government meeting.

"The point is that Ukrainian businesses can continue to export their products to the EU without any duties or quotas, and Ukrainian carriers do not need to obtain transport permits," Shmyhal explained.

He called it a "difficult task" due to "a number of political issues".

"But as the unblocking of the border with Poland has shown, we can find compromise and beneficial solutions with our European partners. Moreover, this year's priority is to work on opening joint checkpoints with our European neighbours," he added.

Shmyhal also said that Ukraine is also working on extending the Solidarity Roads and expanding its export potential to the EU.
