The government is allocating a record amount of money for the development of defence infrastructure, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at a government meeting.
According to him, the sum in question is about UAH 17.5 billion. The money will be used to build engineering and fortification structures, relevant equipment and a system of non-explosive barriers.
"We are allocating the funds to the relevant agencies and regional state administrations," he added.
Last week, it was reported that the government had allocated an additional UAH 2.5 billion for the construction of engineering and fortification structures.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine announced a new approach to the construction of such facilities. The government adopted a resolution that expanded the list of government agencies that can purchase goods, works and services for the construction of military engineering and fortifications.
