The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, has shared the details of preparations for the Global Peace Summit and Russia's possible participation in the event.
Yermak said at a joint press conference in Uzhhorod with Dmytro Kuleba and Peter Szijjarto, the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Hungary, that the teams preparing the summit are already working.
"Tomorrow we will have the first summit with specifics. I can't talk about the number of countries yet, but it is a large number that have begun to confirm their readiness to participate," he said.
Yermak noted that "we are ready to hear everyone" and that "we have not only our partners from NATO and the European Union, but also countries from the Global South sitting at the table".
He said that the first step is to create a joint plan within the framework of the summit and then invite representatives of the Russian Federation to talk.
"I want to repeat the logic of the'peace formula: the first meeting, the first summit at the level of leaders, is without Russia's participation. Then we open up the possibility of holding separate meetings, conferences, events at different levels on all nine of the 10 points to develop such a plan. And at the second summit at the level of leaders, when the plan is ready, we are ready to consider inviting representatives of Russia," he added.
Yermak emphasised that "all the countries that have been with us on this path will be sitting at the table" and that there will be "no talks under the table, no mediators".
He added that "if Russia has the political will for peace at that time", the work will continue according to the approved plan.
