The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GRU) has reported that Maj Oleg Stegachov, the crew commander of a Tu-95 strategic bomber, was shot dead in Engels, Russia.
The pilot, born in 1983, served at the Engels airbase and was directly involved in launching missile strikes on civilian targets in Ukraine and killing people.
As a result of the attack, Stegachov sustained gunshot wounds. The GUR is currently checking whether he is still alive.
"We remind you that punishment is awaiting all war criminals. We know your names, addresses, car numbers, usual routes and habits," the GUR said.
