President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the government, military and defence industry to discuss the supply of new, modern weapons against Russian reconnaissance drones to the Ukrainian army.

"Orlan or ZALA above the front line are the eyes for Russian artillery and attack UAVs. Ukraine has a solution to blind them. We need to implement a systematic approach - from identification to the effective use of electronic warfare and weapons of destruction," Zelenskyy said on Telegram.

The president ordered the creation of a comprehensive system that would unite the army and industry.

"We need manufacturers to know the exact needs of the frontline, and the army to know the production capabilities in all regions. The frontline needs a quick response to challenges and threats. We must do everything to protect the most important thing we have on the battlefield - the lives of our soldiers," he added.

Russian Shaheds are mainly destroyed by mobile fire groups. The Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down the first Iranian drone on 13 September 2022.

According to the Air Force Command, this winter, Russia has been launching attack drones more frequently, 20-30 Shaheds daily.
