Ukrainian intelligence considers that the Telegram messenger poses a number of threats to Ukraine's security, so it is necessary to look for solutions to this problem, Ukrinform reported, quoting Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
"As for Telegram, the threats it poses to society are real. It's not about individual users or individual media represented on this platform, it's about the platform itself. It contains a number of threats to the information, and not only information, security of our country. Yes, this question needs to be addressed, and I think this will definitely happen," he said.
Yehor Aushev, an expert at the Cyber Warfare Research Institute, also said that Telegram is now a de facto legalised "darknet" (a completely anonymous, unregulated and uncontrolled part of the Internet - ed.) He advises the Ukrainian military and their families not to use this messenger for their own safety.
